These Potholes are located in Sooke B.C. They developed as the water rushed down a deep canyon during the annual spring thaw. The current is so strong it carves deep holes in the hard surface of the rock. As the water level subsides, the holes remain full of water and are replenished by the rains. In summer they are warmed by the sun and enjoyed by all.

The canyon is some 500 meters long and a good 60 m deep in places, but not much wider than 5 meter and in places is only 2 meters wide. There are 3 main pools, the first 3-4 meters deep, the 2nd an unknown depth (very deep) and the 3rd is 2 to 3 meters deep. From the first to second pool there is a rushing waterfall about 2 m in height. This 2nd pool has a large sunning island rock. From this pool to the water falls a good 5-6 m over the rock face and crashes in the largest of the three pools.

Sooke PotHoles is a mysteriously magical place. Rocks taken from this spot remain cool for several years but should always be returned.
