The Play has been performed for the public.

(1976)
  John Herbert
A three act comedy.

The locale is the town of Falstaff in Canada. All of the action of the play takes place in one setting, the home of two gay men, one an Afro-Canadian actor and the other an Anglo-Saxon costume designer, both employed for the summer season by the Falstaff Festival, a theatre dedicated to productions of Shakespeare's plays. The other characters come and go for various reasons during the opening days of the season; a well-known British actress, a less well-known British director, a mature Canadian-born actress, brought home from work abroad because the arts council that funds the theatre has insisted on the presence of at least one famous Canadian performer in the company, a young, ambitious Canadian actress and a theatre critic looking for gossip-news.

7 Characters: Actor, Designer, British Actress, British Director, Mature Canadian Actress, Young Canadian Actress, Theatre Critic.
